Hi
I’m new to freelancing but I’m by no means new to writing. I'd love to work on your project.
History has always been my passion. I'm experienced and skilled in writing historical articles.
Aside from this, I have a formal background in engineering. This has given me a solid grounding in research and in delivering technical reports on time.
I've researched and written an article for you, right here:
Today, the 5th of February, we go back in time to another cold, cold place...
On this day in 1814, the River Thames in London was frozen for the very last time. Starting at London Bridge, a one kilometer stretch of river turned into solid ice! A Frost Fair was held there for five days. Thousands of visitors came, paying a few pence to enter. Pedlars erected booths and sold all sorts of wares, including books and toys labelled with “Bought on the Thames”. Even ten printing presses, printing hot-off-the-press memorabilia, were carted onto the ice. An entire sheep was roasted on a spit then sold in slices for a premium. Four donkeys paraded on the ice. Visitors shopped, gambled, danced on barges, played skittles, ate, drank and smoked around roaring kitchen furnaces. The fun ended towards evening when the ice cracked. Some booths and printing presses floated away. Since then, thanks to the demolition of London Bridge causing freer water flow, the Thames hasn’t frozen again.
I hope you'll consider me for your task.
Thanks for your time.
Regards
Karen
