OneGlobe Citizen Call for Submissions! OneGlobe Citizen is a globally focused media company that aims to educate, empower and inspire visitors by providing an edgy, contemporary look at what’s happening around the planet, providing cultural context and a unique perspective. OGC seeks original and previously unpublished work on Music, Art, Fashion, Design, Sports, Cuisine and Travel from the vantage point of a global citizen explaining a specific aspect of their foreign culture. Mixing both personal experiences with a data driven thesis that not only explains how but WHY that specific culture has adopted the custom or practice and where it fits within the global community. Paint a picture of the world you live in! What We Are Looking For: We want to know about the cultures and customs that make up the global community and the human experience. Whether it is an unknown cultural connection between two countries, the vagabond lifestyle of train hoppers or the vibrant international sports culture that makes up FIFA, we want you to uncover the beauty in the diverse global cultures seen around the world each day. Explain why a trip positively affected you and how the local people enhanced your experience. How does the custom or activity affect the local people and why do they connect with it? Why did it start and what is fueling its continued niche following? The beauty of the diverse international culture is in the details and that’s what we want to showcase. We want data driven articles that provide context into your articles and not just personal blog posts. Uncover and interview first person sources and dig into the topic that will help educate and immerse our users into the topics. Be Creative. Be Edgy. Be Yourself! Word Count: 800 – 1,000 What We Are NOT Looking For: We do not generalize and we do not write hate pieces on beliefs that do not align with your personal opinions. We do not write with a political agenda and alienate a group of people. We are not looking to break news around the world. We want to be topical and in front of the curve but we are not a news source. Procedure: If your article is selected to be featured on the OneGlobe Citizen website, you will work with our internal editors to refine your piece to align with our editorial style. A minimum of two edited drafts will be expected. You will get 48 hours between each edit to produce a new draft. If this deadline is missed, the article will be dropped from our editorial queue. All correspondences with OGC staff will occur through the email account that submitted the article. Payment: $50 upon completion and approval of the OGC editorial team. An additional $25 will be paid to articles OGC wants to retain full rights. Payment will be administered through the Paypal platform. * OneGlobe Citizen is not responsible for payment if the writer misses a deadline.
