The contestants do not need to apologize for their entries and I do not need to apologize for not liking their entries. Of course it helps to make a bit of self critique before submiting an entry. Is the entry distinctive? If I saw this book with this cover would I buy it? If your answer to these questiong is no then do not submit it.

  I have said this before. I want original drawings, not using ready material from the internet, even if you combine different things and have or can buy the copywrites for this. The reasons for this is very simple. First combining ready things from the internet will not combine well with each other, then because modifications are more dificult, then because I want you (if we work together in more illustrations of the book) to be able to draw other stuff and finally because I would not have a contest for somthing like this.

  Do not just draw any warrior. Draw someone specific. If you draw Achilles try to find out more about him. I want the hero to be someone who has life (and I am not talking about the style of the drawing but more on how you draw someone) not just a paper hero. I want to look at him and say: "Yes, this is Achilles". Make them unique, make something special about them. Make me want to read the book because I want to find out more about this hero (not just Achilles, anyone you draw).

  Hi, I have this question about style of drawing you want. You wrote you want it to be "modern design but based on the old", you want more realistic style- like in the movie or flat, simplier like ancient greek pottery art style?
