I'm looking for a cool new design, futuristic, but low poly set of pieces for a board-game. Unique design is more important than huge polys. Make it a hi--tech and sci-fi design. Sample pic is from https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/space/spaceship/spa-784bc602-f215-4887-841e-d26b7e68c056

The winner not only wins the money for the contest, but is likely to be the primary choice for continuing the project, if the winner so chooses to be hired at future meetings or negotiations at undetermined prices.

The winner will be chosen by a variety of the following points:
Speaking English is a plus.
Originality.
Best versatility (*doing land, air, and sea*).
Best renderings.
Best 3D printer file compatibility - if you guarantee which 3D printer can be used with your submitted files - this is a huge plus.
Best 3D file format for programming compatibility.
Best design for identification of unit type - easily recognizable according to the name of the unit given.

The winner will have submitted two things. Only two images are required.. several more are optional, but dont submit huge sets of files.

1. A low poly set of 3-5 units in his entry - (in a single image) - for side by side comparison of size and quality.
2. From your 3-5 units submitted, please choose any single unit modeled in high poly - (in a single image) - which may be an early prototype for the outside box "packaging" or advertising etc.

Optional:
3. Extra images to better advertise yourself.. but the winner may be chosen solely from someone who submitted only two images.. so dont believe that submitting a ton of images is a good idea.

I would "eventually" like to have 25-50 units that could easily be represented in a mobile app on 3D rotating board and have a low memory footprint.
The low poly models DO NOT need texturing.

The high poly image for advertising should be of a marketable and attractive final look.

The models must be of original design, and will be checked across image search engines and other references.
The winner will sign over final copyright to all submitted materials.

Eventually, the game will feature maybe 3-5 units of a single model tank, 3-5 units of another tank type, with 10 or so different aircraft models, and half dozen sea lane ships/subs in motion for 3-4 players, each having a force on the board.

Use any modeling software such as:
3D Model Maker, 3ds Max, Art of Illusion, Autodesk 123D, Blender, Cinema 4D, Clara.io, Houdini, K-3D, Lightwave, Maya, Modo, Rhinoceros, Sketchup, Vectary

Pick one category from below for the contest (1. land , 2. air, or 3. sea).

Create 3-5 different Armored units for ground combat - tanks, mechs, powered suit infantry, train/monorail your choice.

-or-

Create 3-5 different Air units - fighter, transport, bomber, your choice.

-or-

Create 3-5 different Sea units - sub, surface skimmer, transport/shipping, destroyer, your choice.

-or-

Create one or more units from each category in your own combination.

The winning entrant will provide the complete set of files to the contest holder.
The contest holder will obtain full and complete copyright to the winning submission including all images and resulting files used in the creation of the submission.. Contest holder may use these files in any form, without restriction, and without further compensation or credit to the entrant other than the prize offered in this contest. None of the images or 3d models or files may contain references to the identity of the entrant.

More people have moved into the 5 star positions. This means that I will eventually reduce the lowest star ratings when I need to move people around. I am only doing this to make it easier to sort the entries on screen.
If I lower your rating IT DOES NOT MEAN I DONT LIKE YOUR WORK. It only means that the winner will be a 5 star holder at the end of the contest, and OTHER CONTESTANTS MIGHT BE ABLE TO SELL ME YOUR WORK IF YOU DO NOT WIN.

If I am forced to choose multiple winners, the prize money may or may not be split 50/50.. it depends on freelancer rules which I need to review, and also on the number of winners and their ratings.
For example I might pay $75 to one person and $25 to runner up. I may also raise the total prize money to accommodate other contestants as I am going to try to be fair and at the same promote good relationships for those I may want to purchase work from.
My final decision will be final at a later time and is to be determined and there is no current decision on how the prize will be awarded at this time. I am only explaining what might happen so everyone knows I am thinking about it.

OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: I have uploaded a horrible sketch that I made in a few minutes which represents a crawler type unit.. covered in angled armor and looks like a cross between an Armadillo, and a Sea Conch Shell with two independently swivel style front and rear treads. Modify this idea as you wish and make it look powerful, mean, dangerous, scary huge.. it will probably be a BOSS unit..

Keep in mind the software version of this strategy game is the primary goal, and 3D printing for a physical game-board is a distant second objective.
However, poly counts in your descriptions for each of your submissions would be nice to know and can be used as a guide for planning performance in the software game.

I have reduced some stars for a few submissions because of not meeting the 3 unit requirement or not being futuristic, hi-tech, sci-fi enough.

Standard looking forces may play a beginner role in the game or be used as tutorial units which will quickly get wiped out when the main game progresses into a future time line - or higher levels.

Also I was seeing a lot of good work, and previoiusly I had rated too many people with 5 stars. I dont want to have too many 5 star reviews.

The stars may change again to make room for a newer entrant who might take all the 5 stars away from the current front-runner.

I added more stars to Georgi because he finally submitted 3 different units.

I would appreciate all 3 units (from all of you) combined into two or three images and submitted as one submission if you dont mind. When the final voting time comes, it would be easier to see one artist and all his units grouped together in one submission, but since I'm new on freelancer I dont know if this is easy for you so I wont require it.

If anyone would care to submit anything else, I am also looking for more units of the following types. This is a BIG BIG BIG hint of upcoming contests and future project work.

You are not required to submit everything or every type of unit.. these suggestions are just to see if anyone specializes in the types of units I am not seeing right now.

1. OPTIONAL: You may write a statement 1-2 pages of how you would BE available AND enjoy to continue work on this project after the end of the contest.

2. I am looking for computerized artificial intelligence or alien type units.

3. Futuristic beings would or could be inter-dimensional.. and would display some abilities to move by warping, and bending space time, and so they dont need wheels or wings.

Good question since I am new to this type of negotiation and even I do not know the total scope of my own project budget or how far it will go..
Low poly models will rule the battlefield for sure.
So it is safe to say the low end of market demand / prices, since the objective is to have low poly models.

The models will be viewed over a fairly high view from the ground in order to show the landscape all the time (the playing board).
This means high quality models would only be needed for cut-scenes /video intros.. and not every unit will have a video.. Unless of course angel investors are discovered later down the road.

My next contest will be for a six sided plot with buildings such as bunkers, civilian, city support style buildings in apocalyptic radiated future.. but thats another story for late in the term of the project.

An experienced person who loves what they do will likely have past projects on their old hard drive that never made them any money. Dig around and see if the work has already been done. Maybe the time has come finally that those models have a chance to deserve to be an entry.
